ON THE JETTY Spring 2024

Dear members,

As our sailing season commences on the 5th October we are planning to have a working bee on Saturday 21st to spruce up the yard in preparation.

Work that needs to be done has been assessed by committee members and priorities determined as follows.

Top priority

  • Removal of scrap steel on north side of workshop, mainly 4 and  6mm plate from demolition of a steel boat which has been cut up by the owner into manageable sizes but there may be larger sections which need further cutting on the day. A skip will be provided for transfer to re-cycling.

  • Shade sail to be re-hung having been repaired.

  • Touch up paint to main pier combing and some patching up of the bollard tops with penetrating epoxy.

  • Weeding to the west area of the clubroom.

  • Fence panels returned to the hard-stand work area on the north side of the workshop.

  • Re-painting the outdoor tables and bench seats. (Paint in workshop locker).

  • Bottom step of clubroom stairs to be painted with anti-slip paint.

Lower priority

  • Paint clubroom walls which have become a little drab over the years. This could be achieved on the day if we have 3 or 4 keen painters with rollers (which will be provided). It depends on whether our keen social secretary can mobilise a squad to remove all the stuff currently hanging on the wall in a very random fashion.

  • Pressure wash eastern wall of workshop.

  • Prune hedge overhanging pedestrian gate area.

We hope we can get a good turnout as we did in last year’s session in October when over 20 keen members achieved a great result.

Many thanks

Derek Ryan,

Yard Steward
